1 ampalaya (bitter gourd), sliced
150 grams beef sirloin, sliced into strips
1 onion, sliced
3 cloves garlic, crushed or minced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 tablespoon rice wine
ground pepper, as desired

How to cook ampalaya con carne (beef ampalaya)
  1. Soak ampalaya in brine solution for 10 minutes. Rinse and blanch it afterwards then set aside. 
  2. In a bowl, combine beef, soy sauce, pepper and rice wine. Marinate for about 30 minutes.
  3. In a pan, stir fry marinated beef strips until done then put the beef aside.
  4. In the same pan, sauté onion and garlic and pour in the marinade sauce.
  5. Add in blanched ampalaya and stir fry for 3 more minutes.
That's it, crunchy ampalaya con carne is ready to serve. Serve with warm rice. Enjoy!
